Emotional and Social Value in Drugs Reduction Program: A Local Community Perceptive

Abstract

This study explores the satisfaction of the local communities on the drug reduction program in Malaysia by considering emotional and social values as the independent variables. Emotional value and social value are selected as independent variables because it represents the dimensions of how the individual perceive and evaluate the benefits of participating in or being impacted by a government’s intervention program, particularly referring to drug reduction program that organized by the agency anti-drugs. Kuala Lumpur, the capital city in Malaysia is selected as a case study in this research as the capital city is the administrative and economic center of the country often encounter with various social issues. Purposive sampling technique is used in this research to recruit the respondents and a total of 102 participants who have involved in the programs are participate in this study. The findings demonstrate that emotional value and social value have a significant positive impact on community satisfaction with the drug reduction program in Malaysia. These results highlight the importance of incorporating emotional engagement and social connection into the design and implementation of the programs and this study can as a reference to the policymakers and practitioners when they design the public health interventions.
