Abstract

The profound assimilation of the artificially intelligent (AI) technology into education encouraged by the international trend of digitalization and intelligentization has become a primary cause of the consistent change of teaching model in Higher Vocational English. This paper examines the facilitating pathways of AI technology in Higher Vocational English teaching, seeking to explore innovative instructional models aligned with “professional competence” and “applied literacy.” This analysis starts by critically examining the three main issues that the Higher Vocational English teaching is facing at present: lack of alignment between the curricular material and professional requirements, the rigidity of instructional practices that cannot effectively arouse motivation to learn, and the inadequacy of singular evaluation methods in effectively assessing language application and workplace communication skills. In response to these problems, the paper has suggested the integration pathway: “Vocational-Oriented Content Reconstruction -Intelligent Teaching Innovation -Data-Driven Evaluation Transformation”. It expounds on issues like development of intelligent curricular resources, human-computer collaborative teaching methods, multi dimensional competency evaluation systems. Lastly, the paper reflects on the issues that have been faced in the process of integrating AI that includes the role change of the teacher, the ethics of technology, and the integrity of education. It also anticipates future trends of higher vocational teaching of English whereby it is more intelligent, more personalized, more integrated and industrialized in the process in order to offer a reference and practical framework for the field.
