Foreword

The world community experiences global changes due to globalization. In globalization era today societies are faced with multifarious challenges. In addition, the industrial revolution era with technological development stages has brought a variety of global changes. Currently the world that has entered into the industrial revolution 4.0 with the development of the Internet of Things and Cyber Physical System making things faster and easier. Access to information is opened more widely.

The industrial revolution 4.0 also has some disruptive effects on all life lines. The community must be ready to face new innovations that are changing up to the root or base. A series of social changes and global technology highlight the need to enhance the resilience of social infrastructure against sudden shocks, particularly for those categorized into vulnerable groups. Our society faces issues difficult to understand. Markets and economies are connected worldwide, digital technology plays an ever more important role, climate change is being felt and the aging population and migration affect the make-up of communities.

Strengthening the community to be able to deal with the changes in the industrial revolution 4.0 with its disruption must be carried out by all stakeholders. Disruptive era is not only happening in business sphere, but now it has also penetrated into education field, media and communication, politics, network society, security and world peace issues. Society must integrate many more factors to get a grip on the complexity of contemporary change. The concept of resilient society can encourage sustainable development.

The context of the theme in this year’s ICOSAPS is not only disruption aspect in technology or natural disaster, but also how the social life and human development aspect faces the disruption era. Strengthening the resilient society connects science to society focusing on such issues as Smart Cities, Human-Robot Interaction, Youth Future, Social Politics, and Climate and Energy Transition. So, our sub-theme will also provide space to the participation in discussing gender, social justice, pluralism, social movement issues, social change in society and international relations aspects. Finally, this proceeding consists of rich discussions about those issues aiming to provide input for academics, practitioners as well as Indonesian government and worldwide.

Preface

The 7th International Conference on Social and Political Sciences held by The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta Indonesia on 3-4 August 2022 discussed transformation issues in various fields along with the COVID-19 crisis in the world. During these two years of this pandemic, the world faced many significant changes. These changes have impacted various aspects of life, not only on a small scale in people's everyday life, but also on a large scale that changes the social structure of society in the global world. The keywords in this transformation are adaptation, resilience, and innovation. Each party involved in the change is required to make adjustments so as not to be left behind. The important aspect is to what extent these parties come up with new findings to survive amid the pace of this rapid global transformation.

By focusing on transformation issues, this conference will bring scholars, practicioners and policy makers from various disciplines to discuss changes in various fields of life during the COVID-19 pandemic and in the future. This conference is also expected to be a medium for disseminating research findings related to issues of change in various fields including but not limited to social, economic, cultural, educational, political and government, gender, environment, religion, communication, and international relations.
