Abstract

The increasing participation of women in entrepreneurial activities highlights the need to understand how they manage financial management practices, particularly in the context of behavioral finance. This study examines the behavioral financial management practices among women entrepreneurs in Kamrup(M) district of Assam with the aim to identify patterns that influence their business sustainability and growth. Using primary data collected from structured questionnaire, cluster analysis was applied to categorise women entrepreneurs based on financial attitudes, decision-making tendencies, risk perception and also investment behavior. The findings reveal significant heterogeneity among respondents, with distinct clusters emerging that reflect varying levels of financial awareness, confidence and reliance on professional advice. While a segment of women entrepreneurs demonstrated rational and proactive financial behavior, others showed cautious, risk adverse or dependent on informal guidance. These insights highlight the role of psychological and social factors in shaping financial practices, revealing the importance of targeted interventions such as financial literacy programs, mentoring support and access to structured advisory services. The results of the study will extent to policy makers, financial institutions and entrepreneurship development agencies, suggesting the need for tailor made strategies to enhance financial capabilities and reduce behavioral biases.
