The International Conference on Science, Technology, and Modern Society (ICSTMS) is a forum of scientific discussion on science, engineering, mathematics and science education, and social sciences and humanities. The 2nd ICSTMS this year is hosted by Samudra University and takes “Reinventing/Refocusing Science and Technology to Restore the Life of Modern Society amid the COVID 19 Pandemic” as its main theme. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Conference is held virtually on November 25-26, 2020.

The Conference addresses many important issues and topics in science, engineering, mathematics and science education, and social sciences and humanities. As the world is facing many challenges these days, the Conference aims to exchange views, discuss issues, and share knowledge and experiences within these spheres. Also, the Conference is expected to be able to achieve its objective in providing an effective forum for academicians, researchers, and practitioners to strengthen and enhance research and innovation and to provide a better environment and a better life.

Under the theme “Reinventing/Refocusing Science and Technology to Restore the Life of Modern Society Amid the Covid-19 Pandemic”, the Conference is organised as a scientific forum where researchers, academicians, and practitioners can share their views and experiences as well as promote networking and studies in the fields of science, engineering, mathematics and science education, and social sciences and humanities.

We are also very honoured and delighted to have our distinguished keynote speakers with extensive experiences in their respective fields, Assoc. Prof. Robert Amery from University of Adelaide, Australia, Dr Hwai Chyuan Ong, University of Technology Sydney, Australia, Prof. Dr. Azrul Azlan Hamzah, University Kebangsaan Malaysia, Malaysia, Prof. Ir. Achmad Djunaedi, MURP. Ph.D, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia, and Dr. Eng. Agus Setiawan, M.Si, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Indonesia.

The Conference has received 105 papers to be published in the conference proceedings. The paper submissions are mostly from lecturers, researchers and graduate students from various universities and institutions in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Australia. All submitted papers are reviewed by at least two reviewers to ensure the scientific quality, and selected papers are published in the international proceedings.

The success of the 2nd ICSTMS 2020 is also inseparable from the efforts and goodwill of all committees and parties involved. Hence, we would like to extend our deepest appreciation to those all who have directly and indirectly made this conference a great success. We are very grateful to the Advisory Committees, Organizing Committees, Scientific Committees, volunteers, and all parties who have worked and supported the success of this event. Also, we are thankful to all the authors who have submitted their papers, done their presentations, and made this conference series a grant success. We look forward to seeing all of you next year at the conference.
