It is our great pleasure to present the 1st International Conference on Technology and Vocational Teachers (ICTVT 2017). This volume of proceedings from the conference provides an opportunity for readers to engage with a selection of refereed papers that were presented during the 1st ICTVT conference.

ICTVT provides a platform to discuss current issues and challenges related technology and vocational education and how they have been explored to technical and vocational education practices in the region and beyond. It is our priority that the primary value of ICTVT is the interaction of researchers, lectures, scholars, practitioners, decision makers, and stakeholders from all parts of society and all regions of the world that promotes learning and collaboration on a global scale.

The 1st ICTVT Conference was held on 28 September 2017 at Sheraton Mustika Hotel, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Yogyakarta, a city renowned as a center of cultures and education amid pleasant surroundings, was a perfect place for the conference.

The theme of the conference was “Alignment of Vocational Teacher Qualification to ASEAN Regional Standard” This theme was developed in recognition of demands to develop qualified and competitive human resources. Revitalization of vocational education is emerging as the cornerstone strategy of human resource development which aims to better prepare competitive human resources within the framework of the world of work.

138 Abstract have been submitted at this conference but only 71 of these have been accepted for the presentation after a blind peer review process. The abstracts were split almost equally between the four main conference areas: (1) Education Policy for Vocational and Technology Education; (2) Competency Standard for Vocational Teachers; (3) Capacity Building on Vocational Teacher Institution; and (4) Applied Technology for Improving Vocational Education. The conference program is organized with one keynote speech, three invited talks and parallel oral sessions

Finally, we are highly appreciated the speakers for their efforts to present the materials in a lively way. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the speakers. It is also appropriate that we record our thanks to the members of the Organizing Committee for their work in preparing all important aspects of the conference. We are also indebted to those who served as Technical Organizing Committee, among others, Mr. Nurkhamid, Mr. Herman Dwi Surjono, and Mr. Didik Nurhadiyanto for their proofreading of the contributed papers. We also acknowledge the authors themselves, without whose expert input there would have been no conference.
