- Abstract
CoAP is designed as an application layer protocol for IoT applications by IETF CoRE WG, and CoAP over WebSocket is currently of interest to researchers. This paper analyzes the features and defect of the HTTP/CoAP proxy proposed in RFC 7252, and explains the CoAP over WebSocket proxy as well as its advantage over the HTTP/CoAP proxy. Then a design and implementation of the WebSocket proxy based on Californium open-source framework is given. Performance tests and experiments results show that the WebSocket proxy has some significant advantages over HTTP/CoAP proxy in term of response time upon high concurrency requests.
