Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between hardiness personality and burnout among members of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) in Medan City. The research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The study population consisted of 150 individuals, and a sample of 122 respondents was determined using the Isaac and Michael formula. However, only 90 questionnaires were returned and analyzed. The instruments used were the Hardiness Scale and Burnout Scale. Data were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation technique with the assistance of SPSS version 26. The results indicated a significant negative relationship between hardiness and burnout among DPRD Medan members, with a correlation coefficient of r = −0.963 and a significance value of p < 0.05. The coefficient of determination (R 2 ) of 0.928 indicates that hardiness contributed effectively by 92.8% to burnout, while the remaining 7.2% was influenced by other factors. These findings suggest that the higher an individual’s level of hardiness, the lower their level of burnout.
