Abstract

The article analyzes the various ways of functioning of phraseology in modern journalistic discourse. In many respects they are adequate to the traditional methods of use and transformation of phraseology in literary texts, but their actuality creates a special expressiveness and creative use of specific methods. In the phraseological fund of journalistic texts often paraphrases and phrases of terminological origin are involved. In this fund actively function as the old, "classic" idioms and new ones. All of them are described in the article as a common functional system.
