Abstract

Facing the frequent occurrence of ecological crisis, deep ecology advocates an eco-centered position to cultivate a sense of intimate coexistence; however, it is often questioned because of overshooting tendency. The key to correct the ecological situation is to present a further study of the relationship among Objects. This paper analyzes three evolving stages of objects in the ecological world extended all the way from Levinas’s “alterity”, to Derrida’s “arrivant” and arrived at Morton’s “Strange Strangers”. On this basis, it demonstrates the playful feature shared among Objects, which brings a chance to reconsider the logics of coexistence among human, animals and universal beings.
