- Abstract
Based on the theory of etymology, together with relative documents and historical facts, this paper analyzes the etymon of two terms: qonaq and kOmmiqonaq, which refer to”corn”in Modern Uyghur language. The word meaning enhancement and weakening of qonaq, and the forming of the word kOmmiqonaq, reflect objective reality at that time and people's subjective perceptions of objective things have the profound influence on language, and also provide some important agricultural information to us.
