- Abstract
Traditional blasting techniques for rock and concrete demolition present environmental pollution and safety risks. Although soundless chemical demolition (SCD) is environmentally friendly, it faces efficiency bottlenecks such as long reaction times and poor low-temperature adaptability. This review aims to explore the technical advances in thermite-assisted soundless chemical demolition of rock and concrete. Research indicates that heating agents, particularly thermite, significantly accelerate the hydration reaction of soundless chemical demolition agents (SCDAs) through their high exothermic properties, enhancing expansion rate and pressure. This dramatically shortens reaction times and improves low-temperature performance. With the aid of heating agents, the reaction time of static crushing agents can be reduced by over 50%. Furthermore, their expansive performance can be effectively initiated and sustained even under low-temperature conditions (e.g., 0–5 ℃), thereby significantly enhancing their applicability in cold-climate regions. This technology is expected to fill the gap in efficient non-blasting demolition and expand its engineering application scenarios. However, challenges such as the lack of systematic research, control of the heating process, and environmental impact and safety control still need to be addressed. Future research should focus on synergistic mechanisms, material optimization, environmental assessment, and intelligent development to advance SCD technology towards a more efficient, safe, environmentally friendly, and intelligent direction.
