- Abstract
The ultimate goal of OBE (Outcome-Based Education) is to cultivate professionals who meet societal needs. This article explores the practical application of OBE in the information security technology course. Based on the engineering education accreditation standards, the study employs a backward design approach, starting from the professional graduate outcomes to construct an information security technology course system. The article elaborates on the core characteristics of the OBE and, based on the characteristics of the information security technology course, designs course objectives and achievement paths for the 11 graduate outcomes stipulated by the engineering accreditation standards. Practice has demonstrated that diversified teaching methods, such as pre-class independent learning, classroom discussions, and hands-on laboratory training, combined with a continuous assessment and feedback mechanism, can effectively improve teaching effectiveness. Statistics from eight consecutive semesters show that after implementing OBE teaching, the standard deviation and coefficient of variation of student grades have continued to decline, indicating a more balanced and stable learning effect, validating the effectiveness and applicability of the OBE in the information security technology course.
