The Conference was held during December 20–21, 2022, at the esteemed Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, Indonesia, in conjunction with The 9th International Conference on Engineering, Technology, and Industrial Application (ICETIA 2022). Your participation added immense value to the event and contributed to its overall success. Thank you for joining us in this gathering of esteemed professionals, and we look forward to your continued engagement in the future.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the decision was made to host this year’s conference virtually, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all participants. The virtual format allowed for a wider range of attendees to join from different parts of the world without the need for travel, creating a more diverse and global event. Despite the challenges of organizing a virtual conference, we were thrilled to see the high level of engagement from participants, who were eager to connect with one another and share their latest research findings.

Throughout the conference, there were several keynote speakers and panel discussions on a variety of topics, ranging from advanced materials to nanotechnology and bioengineering. The presentations were thought-provoking, and the discussions that followed were engaging, with participants sharing insights and experiences from their respective fields.We hope that the knowledge shared during this conference will lead to further research collaborations and breakthroughs in material sciences.

In addition to the presentations, the virtual format provided attendees with the opportunity to network through a variety of online events, including chat rooms, breakout sessions, and virtual poster presentations. These events allowed attendees to connect with other participants and discuss their work in more detail. The feedback we received from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, and we are excited to continue hosting conferences that bring together leading experts in material sciences to exchange ideas, share knowledge, and explore new research opportunities.

The MEST 2022 conference was a highly stimulating and informative event, featuring two keynote speakers from Korea and Malaysia. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the first keynote speaker, Prof. Ock-Taeck Lim, Associate Professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ulsan, South Korea, for sharing her expertise and insights on the application of natural fibers in engineering. Her presentation was thought-provoking and provided valuable insights into this emerging field.

We would also like to extend our thanks to the second keynote speaker, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Waluyo Adi Siswanto, from Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia (UMAM), for his enlightening talk on the latest advancements in materials science and engineering. Both speakers brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the conference, enriching the experience of all attendees.

We would also like to express our appreciation to the hardworking organizers, program committee members, and reviewers who helped make this conference possible. Their tireless efforts and dedication were instrumental in ensuring the success of the event. Overall, MEST 2022 was a wonderful opportunity to connect with leading experts in the field and share the latest research findings and best practices. We look forward to future editions of this conference and the continued exchange of knowledge and ideas in materials science and engineering.

Furthermore, we would like to extend our gratitude to all the authors who submitted their research findings to the conference.We are honored to have received such a diverse and high-quality range of submissions, and we greatly appreciate the effort and dedication put into each study. The contributions of the authors have helped to make MEST 2022 a dynamic and engaging event, offering attendees the opportunity to learn about the latest advancements in materials science and engineering.

It was our pleasure and privilege to showcase the best and most current research findings in the field during the conference.
