Abstract

The application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education has garnered widespread attention for its transformative potential, yet effective strategies to mitigate its ethical and pedagogical risks remain insufficient, underscoring the urgency to balance innovation with academic integrity. This paper analyzes the dual impacts of AI systems on enhancing students’ core competitiveness in higher education. The findings reveal that AI significantly promotes personalized learning, creativity, self-efficacy, and motivation through adaptive feedback, resource generation, and interactivity. However, it simultaneously poses risks of academic misconduct, superficial learning, and diminished critical thinking due to over-reliance. Based on this analysis, the study proposes three key recommendations: establishing institution-wide ethical policies mandating transparency in AI use. Redesigning assessments to emphasize human-centric skills like critical analysis while deploying AI for routine tasks. Investing in AI-auditing tools to detect misuse and ensure accountability. The restriction on AI should be clarified as it is a boon for users in the future.
