Abstract

Microwave network theory is a core knowledge module in the “Fundamentals of Microwave Technology” course and plays a key role in cultivating students’ ability to analyze and design microwave systems. In response to problems in traditional teaching such as abstract theory, weak connection to engineering, and insufficient practical skills among students, this paper proposes a systematic teaching reform plan centered on the cultivation of engineering capabilities. By reconstructing a trinity curriculum system of “theory-simulation-application,” deeply integrating professional electromagnetic simulation tools with problem-oriented teaching methods, and building a multi-level virtual-physical combined experimental platform, the teaching effectiveness has been significantly improved. Three years of teaching practice shows that after the reform, students’ engineering problem-solving ability increased by 32%, participation in innovative practices grew by 45%, and the average score on core knowledge points in the final exam increased by more than 23 percentage points. This paper provides a replicable implementation path for the reform of core courses in electronic information majors, with significant promotional value.
