We are delighted to present these conference proceedings from the second FIRE Conference – Research-on-FIRE, held from 26–27 August 2025 at the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg (DHBW) Mannheim in Germany. This interdisciplinary conference brought together an international and interdisciplinary community of female researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders under the auspices of FIRE – the Female International REsearch network. The event reflects a shared commitment to advancing research excellence, fostering collaboration across borders, and promoting inclusive academic engagement. We thank the FIREtalk project of Baden-Wuerttemberg Stiftung for making this conference possible.

The conference provided a unique platform for researchers, academicians and industrial experts from a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds including life sciences, health, engineering, computer science, business and education in the context of sustainability to exchange knowledge and insights on topics that define contemporary research challenges and opportunities. With contributions spanning theoretical inquiry, applied investigation, and innovative methodologies, this volume showcases the diversity and depth of research contributions presented during the conference. Topics range from Challenges in Accessing Reproductive Health Education, Federated AI for Mental Health, an Intelligent Prediction Tool for Infectious Diseases’ Outbreaks to Global Patterns in Negotiation Channels, to name a few.

The objective of these proceedings is to provide female researchers with a platform to explore and understand current developments in interdisciplinary research, innovative methodologies, and emerging practices across diverse academic fields and international borders. The contributions collected in these proceedings offer valuable insights for both academia and industry, fostering knowledge exchange, research excellence, inclusive research leadership and sustainable impact through cross-disciplinary engagement and the opportunity for exchange between industry, academically young researchers and research leaders in their field.
