Abstract

With the development of the entrepreneurship area, members of the LGBTQ+ community continue to challenge norms and open doors for new perspectives with regard to management strategies. Using Henri Fayol’s Five Functions of Management, namely: planning, organizing, commanding, coordinating, and controlling, the study determines the specific strategies employed by the LGBTQ+ small business entrepreneurs in relation to these functions. This quantitative comparative study used a validated questionnaire distributed to 254 owners or managers of small businesses in Batangas City. The data gathered was statistically treated using frequency and percentage, mean, standard deviation, and ANOVA. The finding shows that most of the respondents were cisgender women, while the smallest group were transgenders. The findings also revealed that there were significant differences in the assessment of management functions among small business entrepreneurs. Based on this result, the researchers proposed a management action plan that provides techniques for promoting diversity and inclusion in management, clearly defining employment criteria, skill training, and measurable business objectives, and helps to create tangible and lasting positive impacts on gender dynamics within small businesses, leading to more inclusive, innovative, and successful organizations.
