Application Modes and Learning Effect Evaluation of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Online Courses of Colleges and Universities

- Abstract
The post-pandemic era has promoted the in-depth integration of “artificial intelligence + education”. As an emerging technology, generative artificial intelligence has injected new impetus into the intelligent development of online courses in colleges and universities. Through quantitative surveys, this study systematically analysed the behavioural patterns of college students using GenAI and its impact on learning outcomes. The results show that the overall usage frequency of students is relatively high, with more than half of the students being high-frequency users, and most of them show stable tool usage habits; however, gender, grade, and major have no significant impact on satisfaction. Regression analysis further indicates that the frequency of GenAI use and the richness of online learning resources are the key factors affecting learning satisfaction, while the frequency of tool replacement and school policy guidance have no significant impact. The study shows that to promote the effective application of GenAI in online courses, attention should be paid to the stability of students’ usage habits, and curriculum resource construction and policy support should be strengthened to improve the learning experience and outcomes.
