Abstract

This study reviewed most of the foreign language teaching methods and approaches from grammar-based period to the latest task-based period. Analysis, conclusion of the characteristics and critical comments about these teaching methods and approaches were conveyed in the present study. The general description of the Chinese college English teaching situation and problems were also mentioned within the specific measures to improve.
