- Abstract
Halal is a product standard under Islamic law, applicable to food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and services. According to the Global Islamic Economy Reports (2022), the global Halal market reached approximately USD 7 trillion in 2022 and is projected to grow to USD 10 trillion by 2028, with an annual growth rate of about 6-8%. Southeast Asia, with USD 230-470 billion in Halal food consumption, is a highly potential region. A report by the Ministry of Science and Technology (2023) indicates that 58.7% of Vietnam’s provinces and cities have exported products to the Halal market, but 41.3% lack Halal-certified products. Around 1,000 Vietnamese enterprises have obtained Halal certification. This highlights the need for Vietnamese products to meet Halal standards in production and export to the Halal market. This article focuses on evaluating the production and export activities of Halal-standard products while considering solutions to develop Vietnam’s production and export of Halal-compliant products.
