Abstract

Globalization, digital disruption, and the acceleration of social change in the 21st century require a reformulation of Civic Education transform the strengthening of national character through a contextual approach based on local cultural values. handep hapakat is the collective wisdom of the Dayak people of Central Kalimantan that emphasizes the values of mutual cooperation, deliberation and consensus, collective responsibility, tolerance, and social concern, positioned as fundamental values for the development of student’s character. Internalization of handep hapakat values in Civics learning aims to shape students with high social awareness, collaborative skills, and commitment to the common good. Handep hapakat values are critically considered as a bargaining power against the increasingly prominent tendencies of individualism, identity fragmentation, and deficits in social solidarity. This effort simultaneously strengthens national identity by positioning local wisdom as a source of moral orientation and guidance for action for the younger generation in responding to global complexity. Therefore, there is a need for strengthening and critical reinterpretation of the conceptual and pedagogical aspects, so that handep hapakat values become a moral anchor that is contextually close to the socio-cultural reality of students. Internalization of the values of handep hapakat holistically and persistently is expected to be able to create character formation, not just limited to character knowing.
