Abstract

Problem-based learning (PBL) is a teaching method in which complex real-world problems are used as the vehicle to promote student learning of concepts and principles as opposed to direct presentation of facts and concepts. In addition to course-content, problem-based learning can promote the development of problem-solving ability and communication skill. Problem-solving skill help you determine the source of a problem and find an effective solution. This paper aims to discuss about the background of problem-based learning when implemented in the classroom, and how by applying the problem-based learning approach can improve the students’ problem-solving ability and communication skill.
