Abstract

In the present work Fransziska Tausig’s experiences of foreignness in Shanghai and the heterotopia of exile are presented. The focus is on a presentation of the individual perception of Shanghai and China, the gender stereotypes there as well as the confrontation and coping with strangeness from the perspective of Tausig.
