Abstract

Parents will certainly give the best for their children. One of them is in terms of the education of the child. At this time, many parents choose to send their children to Islamic-based schools. This study aims to analyze parents’ interest in choosing an Islamic-Based Elementary School, with three main discussions on 1) Parents’ views on Islamic-Based Elementary Schools, 2) Parents’ interest in Islamic-Based Elementary Schools so that there is an interest in sending children to Islamic-based elementary schools, and 3) It is the appeal of Islamic-Based Primary Schools that most influences the interest of parents in choosing the Primary School. The method used in this study is Descriptive Qualitative by collecting data through interviews, observations, and documentation. The informants in this study were parents or guardians of grade 1 students, teachers, and principals. Data were analyzed with Milles and Hubberman models through data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study obtained that parents have a positive view of Islamic-Based Elementary Schools, which means that Islamic-Based Schools have Islamic nuances by placing more emphasis on Islamic religious education and can strengthen the religious character of students through religious lessons and activities. With a positive outlook, parents have an interest in Islamic-based elementary schools, namely in excellent programs and religious activities offered by the school and non-academic achievements achieved in religious activities that are instilled regularly so that able to arouse parents’ interest in choosing an Islamic-based elementary school.
