- Abstract
Pythagoras school believed that the ‘number’ was the essence of the world. The harmoniousness of the ‘number’ was the source of the world’s harmoniousness. In fact, the harmoniousness of the ‘number’ is a kind of right and changeless relationship that embodying in factors of quantity or quality of things. So the harmoniousness of Pythagoras school is kind of sensory and formal principles, such as symmetry, balance, harmony etc which are building by the rate of the ‘number’ to all appearance; In fact, this harmoniousness is a kind of absolute and invariable rules of the cosmos. So the harmoniousness of Pythagoras school is not only a simple question of form, but also it is an important philosophical and aesthetical question refers to the relationships. Although someone of Pythagoras school believed later that harmoniousness was a result of oppositions and difference. In fact, according to Pythagoras school, the oppositions are some fixed and absolute rates without any possibility of changing. Therefore the Pythagoras school’s harmoniousness is not only a question of opposition.
