Abstract

In order to solve the problem that the innovation consciousness and the ability of innovative of engineering education is weaker in the university, the First Principle of the engineering design was studied from function based on the emergence, development and applications in other fields of the First Principle in this article. The steps and innovative design process of function’s determination, analysis, and solution of the product that to be designed were established. Starting from the function, the constraints and fetters of traditional design would be broken and revolutionary breakthrough in technology could be achieved. Only by mastering this concept and method, can the higher engineering and technical personnel break through the tradition, innovate from the origin, and get the ‘high quality’ plan. The research results have certain reference significance for both Engineering Education Accreditation and high-quality engineering talent training in the university.
