Abstract

Speech is an important part of English stylistics, especially the speech delivered by politicians. They use many kinds of methods to convey their political purpose. In this thesis, the author selects Churchill’s speech at the moment when Hitler attacked and invaded Russia. In the speech, Churchill uses many kinds of rhetorical devices to illustrate the importance of the rhetorical devices to speech, which could make speech more powerful and attractive.
