Abstract: This article aims to explore the pivotal role and implementation pathways of academic competitions in cultivating the abilities of automation majors. Taking the highly representative “Siemens Cup” China Intelligent Manufacturing Challenge as a specific case, we delve into how it effectively compensates for the deficiencies of traditional classroom teaching and transforms theoretical knowledge into comprehensive engineering literacy and innovation capabilities. Through preparation and participation in competitions, students’ professional hard skills, career soft skills, and forward-looking vision are cultivated.
