Abstract

Frida Kahlo (Frida Kahlo, 1907-1954) is a famous female painter of Mexico in the 20th century and a pioneer of modern female artists. Her own experience is very legendary. “Self-Portrait Wearing a Thorns Necklace and Hummingbird” was created in 1940 and was created by Frida when her husband, Rivera (Diego Rivera, 1886-1957, a famous Mexican mural artist) proposed remarriage. A self-portrait. Based on the premise of understanding the life of Frida, this article uses the theory of iconography proposed by Panovsky to carry out the work of “Self-Portrait Wearing a Thorns Necklace and Hummingbird” in the three aspects of pre-image, image and image. Explore and try to understand Frida’s hidden emotions in the painting. At the same time, learning to use image analysis methods in this work can also help us to interpret other works in the future and use them when creating our own works.
